Welcome to Bubba's home page...
| For 14 years, give or take a few months, Bubba, a.k.a. Bubbles or Bubs, roamed the land -- every bit the happy-go-lucky black lab he was. He was pals first with Miller, then with Scooby and always with Alex the cat. As the years went by, he lost his hearing, then his mobility. In the end, he was just as alert and happy and healthy as ever, except for one thing. Old age gradually wore down his hind legs to the point he could no longer get around and we finally had to let him go on Sept. 21, 2007.
As soon as I can look at some of the latest photos and videos without crying, I'll add them to his page. I picture him and Miller now, having gone to where all good dogs go, running and romping together free of all cares, waiting only for their Daddy to some day find them. And then there will be true joy. |

A few seconds of quiet time...
...taking in the morning air on the screen porch on a warm September morning....
Does it get much better than this if you're an old dog? I think not. Neither did he.But alas, even warm, sunny porches can't stave off the ravages of old age; after 14 years -- more than 10 of them with me at his side -- Bubba has gone away. To the end, he was his stoic, loyal and loving self.
On this day, the day of his passing, I cried.
